RE: Weight Distribution Shank....2.5" receiver end X 18" Long
I don't like using the sleeve as a long term fix. Not sure a longer sleeve would make much difference.
Changing the hitch out is no easy or cheap task. Talked to CURT....the new GM receivers are part of the bumper system and all connects to frame. Aftermarket bumper brackets would be needed to add an aftermarket hitch.
I could try aftermarket sleeves to see if they fit any tighter.
I could have plates welded on the 2" shank to build it up to fit the 2.5" receiver. That may be the best option for a long term fix.

RE: Weight Distribution Shank....2.5" receiver end X 18" Long
As Grit Dog mentioned, the size I am looking for is not manufactured by any of the larger Hitch companies. I called Curt, Equalizer, reese, Blue Ox, and BulletProof. The 2"x18" is made. Manufacturers stated the sleeve is the option for those wanting to use the 2"x18" in a 2.5" receiver.
I did mention to BulletProof about making one...they said they have received calls about a longer one, but no immediate plans to make an 18" one.
Unless there's an option that is doable for me (not making my own...btw...wonder what size welder would be needed to penetrate 2" sold steel?), it looks like I'll go with a 2" and use the sleeve/reducer that came with my truck. I'm going to add a hitch clamp to reduce any play/slop from the use of the adapter.
Thanks for the input!

Weight Distribution Shank....2.5" receiver end X 18" Long
RE:
'23 GMC 3500 4X4, Crew Cab standard bed
2.5" Receiver
I finally got around to setting up my travel trailer and Equalizer WD hitch.
Since my new truck has a 2.5" receiver, I purchased an Equalizer brand shank that is 2.5" on receiver end with a 3" drop and 7" rise. It's 12" long. My tailgate hits the electric jack when I attempt to lower tailgate. Tailgate must be taller than my previous 2003 Ford F350, as I was able to lower tailgate with a 12" long shank on that truck. It may also be that the Ford was a 4X2, or a combination of the two.
Can't seem to source a 2.5" shank that is 18" long, in any drop/rise format. I can find 18” length, but only for 2” receivers.
Anyone run into this issue? What did you do?
Were you able to source a 2.5" receiver end that is 18" long? If so, please share.
I considered using the 2.5” to 2” reducer that came with my truck and purchase the 2”x 18” long shank but have heard that the reducers can oblong or egg shape the truck's receiver from the slop and constant movement when towing heavy trailers.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

RE: Extension Hitch Question
Miguel--
You may want to read this...Hitch Set up for Towing
I helped a friend set up his hitch for towing. He wanted the safest method possible. We talked about several different options, and in the end decided on Torklift, as pictured below...

RE: How do you handle no toilet in Pop Up?
:S
But congratulations on the new rig! Comfort AND style!
So you started the thread a week or so ago when you still had the old superdoody and somehow thought it would only haul a tiny minimalist TC? (Not true, honestly it would haul similar weights similarly to the brand new Jimmy) And then decided to go for broke and get a new truck based on having a chitter in your maybe gonna get TC?
Never thought it would only haul a minimalist TC.
Payload between the 2003 and 2023 is 1225# so they are not similar.
New truck purchase is a personal choice.
Any yes...maybe a TC...maybe not!

RE: How do you handle no toilet in Pop Up?
A big thanks to all of you who provided "constructive comments." It helped me better understand what you did or do without a dedicated toilet. The commentary, I can do without.
As it turns out, I recent sold my 2003 Ford F350. The truck was part of the reason for being cautious on camper weight.
I am now the new proud owner of a 2023 GMC 3500HD 4X4...with 4225# of Payload!
Now as far as a toilet goes, there will be one whenever I chose to purchase a truck camper. Your assistance helped me decide that.
Thanks!

RE: HELP PLEASE... Hitch and extension ?
You mention price conscious....however this is not where $$$ should be skimped on.
A few months ago I installed a Torklift hitch and extension on a friends F350 so he could tow his boat. His stock hitch was inadequate for this set up.
It was costly, but he tows with comfort knowing it was done correctly. There is a thread I created about it with install details.

RE: How do you handle no toilet in Pop Up?
Thanks for the input.
As much as I liked the idea of pop ups with no bathroom, they are shorter and end up even with my bumper, so that trailer connection for boat is easy, I believe I may regret not having an indoor toilet.
With the added bathroom, I'll need a stinger when towing. I can live with that.

How do you handle no toilet in Pop Up?
Considering a used pop up camper for a short bed full size 3/4 ton truck.
A couple on my shortlist are....
2019 Norstar TC650 (without toilet). No cabinet for porta potty...it was used for additional battery
2004 Hallmark UTE XL (with toilet)
My camping locales include everything between no facilities (20%), to pit toilets (40%), to showers and toilets (40%).
Basically, deciding between the need to have a toilet or not in the pop up.
For those of you that have pop ups without a dedicated toilet, how do you handle your business....porta-potty, wag bags, ??
Thanks!
